Your Portfolio: How to use Pinterest for Inbound Marketing of your Company's website.

Okay, so you have a collection of photos, various kinds of photos published on your website.

Preferably, you have a page of your site devoted to a single photo. Or, at least, you have one major photo per page.

With the arrival and fantastic growth of social platforms like Pinterest(especially), Instagram and, even, GooglePlus, photos have become a very valuable currency on the social spaces. The tension between words and pictures as always been great, regardless of medium, but in the social media, photos become not only intriguing and pleasing for the eyes but they can also be the pathway back to your website.

Get ready to claim your Vanity URL on Google+

Claim your vanity URLOver last few days, Google has invited early Google Profile users to claim a vanity URL, and left those not invited wondering how this all might work.

We have received questions from “Do you know the link where one can claim a vanity URL?”; to, “can we call someone?”. This evening, I received my notification to claim my Google+ URL:  “www.google.com/+BirgitPauli-Haack”.

If it has a UPC code, Amazon will beat you

E-commerce startups - Chris Dixon (via fred-wilson)

My comment: So true!!!

Amazon has a unique relationship to your customers:

  • Trusted
  • True
  • Best Price
  • Fast site
  • Already registered
  • Best recommendation engine
  • No hassle returns…

What else? You tell me?

Wouldn’t it be just prudent for your to use as payment/online store Amazon’s site? The provide it as white label service to online retailers for years.

Introducing Pulse for the Web

Absolutely beautiful. I have been using Pulse for my daily/weekly reading list on any of my mobile devices: Android, iPhone, iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire and it performs on all of them without any problem. Sharing works very well with any of the social networks.

Now their web version is finally public and I posted a screenshot of my collection

Two years ago, we released Pulse for iPad to make browsing news on mobile devices faster, simpler and more beautiful than ever before. It wasn’t long until our users let us know that the problem we solved wasn’t confined to mobile devices. Even on the web, people have to bookmark their…

Q:What are the steps to take to follow someone on twitter when you only have their name? Thanks! Julie Ledbetter

Anonymous

Hi Julie! Welcome back to our site!
Twitter Search can be tough, when there isn’t enough information it will give you a list of people with the same name. If a person is serious about Twitter, she has filled out the profile page with full name and short bio. There should be enough clues to identify the right person to follow.

As you are asking here, I assume the Twitter search didn’t give you enough information to identify the right person. That’s a tough one. There is some “Sherlock”-ing” to be done. I would start with a Google Search to find the person’s website or if she is mentioned on a website. Google search is far broader of course than Twitter. Chances are they published their twitter account on their own website or you find their LinkedIN profile or their Facebook profile. Then you still can connect to the person, just not on Twitter.

I personally have a rule:  If I can not find the twitter account of a person within 15 minutes, I assume he or she doesn’t want to be found and has no interest in other people connecting to him or her on Twitter.

Get found on Twitter:

  • Don’t be an egghead, add your profile picture (headshot works best)
  • Fill out the profile page with your full name and short bio, with info that is relevant
  • Add your Twitter account to your website or Facebook or Google+ profile
  • Add you Twitter account to your e-mail signature

Any other thoughts? What do you do to get found?

I’ve got a few simple frameworks for thinking about things. In social media, one of my main ones is the tenet that 1% of the users will create content, 10% will curate it, and the rest will consume it.
